The Detroit Jazz Festival, in a historic collaboration with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO),is proud to present the Detroit Torino Urban Jazz Project (DTUJP) presented by FIAT. This project highlights the similarities between two sister cities – Detroit and Torino, Italy – united by a shared automotive history and experiences revolving around a post-industrialized urban environment and the art born from the realities and fantasies of that environment. On June 1 at 7:30pm, a unique performance, sure to please the senses of sight and sound, will bring together the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Detroit-Torino Urban Jazz Quartet at Orchestra Hall.

Once again the Smooth Jazz community connects with Chene Park for a summer filled with great music. This much anticipated summer series reaches out to smooth jazz listeners across the metro Detroit area offering an exciting evening of national jazz entertainment presented at Chene Park, a unique riverside amphitheater beautifully located on the banks of the Detroit River. Tickets are on sale at the Chene Park Box Office, Monday-Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 11am-3pm and all Ticketmaster locations.

George Benson is almost 70 years old but he shows no signs of slowing down.  His newest CD, Guitar Man, was honored as Best Jazz Album at the 43rd Annual NAACP Image Awards and he is embarking on a summertime tour of Europe.  more
